Founder of Mindspace Therapy
My name is Sarah and I am a counsellor working with a psycho-spiritual model, Islamic Counselling.
I completed my therapist training with Stephen Maynard & Associates and a Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Psychology with the Cambridge Muslim College.
I have previously worked with Nour DV and the Lateef Project, as well as Eclectic House and The Lantern Initiative.
In 2020, I made the decision to work in private practice and founded Mindspace Therapy.
My approach is holistic and focused on faith/spirituality, taking into account individual cultural perspectives. I have experience working with a diverse set of presenting issues and I am passionate about positive mental health and well-being as well as social justice issues.
I believe strongly in working with authenticity and aim to mirror this for my clients, in order to empower and facilitate growth through a collaborative approach and ultimately create space for terbiyah (self-awareness and self-development) and healing.
“Sarah was very warm and understanding of my situation. She made me feel heard and understood. I felt safe enough to open up to her and it had helped lift my mood significantly.”
“This helped me a lot. I cannot overstate this. My whole life has changed for the better because of these therapy sessions. Every issue I had I felt were addressed and I feel better for having taken these sessions. I am eternally grateful. Thank you Sarah. “
“I am honored and blessed to have had the sincere, non-judgmental and patient guidance of Sarah throughout our sessions together. Sarah has helped me to identify and put into place self-care as a matter of priority. With Sarah’s help I have been able to discuss and put to rest some of the traumatic events of my childhood.”
"My counsellor Sarah was absolutely brilliant. She was supportive and caring showing a lot of concern. She listened carefully showing me gentleness in her speech. She made me feel comfortable and safe around her which enabled me to open up and talk. If needed I would definitely come back to her."
Sarah's approach to counselling has been life changing for me. As someone who had never invested in long term therapy before, I had my doubts that I would find what I was looking for. However, within the first few weeks Sarah developed an amazing therapeutic relationship with me. One where I felt safe, comfortable and I was able to bring my most authentic self to all of my sessions. She was quick to notice on days where my mood was off, or I was more reserved than usual and helped me to challenge myself and my inner voice constantly. She was always consistent, professional yet our sessions never felt formal. Sarah encouraged reflection, reading outside of sessions and was key in helping me develop my sense of self. She exceeded any expectations that I had at the start of our journey, and I left our sessions every week feeling confident, brave and a step closer to healing.
I found the sessions very helpful at an important time for me and Sarah listened well and asked relevant questions that helped me process my thoughts and worries. She always supported me using a very inclusive position Islamically so I could work out what was best for me and my family.
